Right now it’s a few crochet items and some scrabble necklaces but I’m really looking to expand it and hopefully make some money as I am still broke and unable to work. I’m looking for this to tide me over until I get back on my feet.

Hi Nikki! I've been a long time admirer of your art and comic! As someone looking to take art in college, I was wondering if you have any recommendations/advice/comments about your art college experience, more specifically about MICA but general stuff is great too. Thanks so much ovo
Hi raveninblue!! THANKS SO MUCHHH I’m glad you like my art/comic!! :’D ♥♥♥ I guess in general I’ve really liked art school! MICA in particular has a tough foundation program and you’re required to take various academic classes but AFTER FRESHMAN YEAR I’ve really enjoyed MICA so far. Freshman year is seriously difficult but I’m glad I stuck through because I’m really happy being here!! But like any school, you have to look up the teachers and ask other students about the classes; I’ve chosen really good illustration classes based on that (or maybe I’m easy to please idk LOL)! But I know a lot of my classmates who’ve had sucky classes… ):
I’m the type of person who has trouble learning things on my own so I really enjoy being able to receive feedback with critique and ask for endless amounts of help from my teachers. For real, my favorite thing is when my teachers help me… :’D If you have trouble teaching yourself and need a good push to get work done (MEEE me me me LOL), I’d definitely consider art school!! I’ve grown a lot because I understand a lot more with the help of my teachers/peers.
If you’re looking to take art in school rather than going to art school, uhmm…I can’t say for sure (anyone please feel free to comment!!), but those might be more foundation/basic-ish classes and not as specific as classes in art school. For example, some illustration classes at MICA include: sequential arts, illustrating the edible, book illustration, maps, narrative: words & pictures, etc! It really depends on what kind of person you are; my interests are very specific so I tend to enjoy the different types of illustration classes I can take. :D
Overall, I’ve liked being here at MICA a lot and I’ve met a lot of really awesome people! Going to art school is like living in a little bubble where everyone loves the same things you do, almost everyone watches/appreciates cartoons, you all have the same artist’s problems, and I love how people dress, like seriously I can wear a cat shirt everyday and it’d be cool. That’s my favorite thing about art school…LOL jk but seriously.
My classmate Shirley put together this super awesome list with links and stuff with info about MICA specifically I think might be helpful for you!! :D
If you have some specific questions or maybe you wanna know more please let me know! :D
